Reconciliation
Welcome! Our program runs over two (2) years, commencing with Confirmation (generally year 3) followed by First Holy Communion / Eucharist and First Reconciliation / Penance (generally year 4). Once enrolled for Confirmation there is no need to re-enrol for the remaining Sacraments.
If your child has received the Sacrament of Confirmation and First Holy Communion in another parish, please register today so we can support your child's sacramental journey. Once registered please submit an enrolment form for your child. If your child has already enrolled for Confirmation or First Holy Communion in our parish previously, they are automatically enrolled for their next sacrament. We are pleased to provide information and date claimers for your perusal in the below link.
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
Everyone occasionally does things they regret or perhaps know they shouldn’t have done, and that’s why the Sacrament of Penance is so important. Commonly called Confession, the Sacrament of Penance is all about healing. Remember, no matter what you have done, God loves you and is ready to forgive you. But first you need to speak to God about what happened, and Catholics do that through a ritual of confession, penance and absolution.
The idea of confessing something you did wrong to someone might make you anxious or uncomfortable, and the Church understands this. That’s why Catholic priests are bound to a seal of confession. This means a Catholic priest can never repeat any sins you confess to him in the confessional to anyone for any reason. Penance is a sacrament of forgiveness and celebrates God’s love and mercy towards us.
Pre-requisites for Reconciliation are Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion.
