As Pastor of the Catholic Communities of Grovely – Samford and Mitchelton, I welcome you to our parish. If you are searching for a spirit filled community to call home we hope you will join us.
Our mission, nourished by the word and sustained by the Eucharist is to maintain and grow an inclusive and welcoming Catholic community that embraces its rich diversity and responds to Christ call to love one another.
The Mitchelton Catholic community of Our Lady of Dolours was established in 1932 and St. William’s in 1960, though still separate parishes, they are now combined administratively with the William’s parish which includes the Sacred Heart church in Samford.
The total area is large, covering the Western Hills from Gaythorne to Mount Glorious. We have been truly blessed with hard working and devoted pioneer priests, sisters and parishioners as we strive to develop a sense of community and belonging.
We welcome you warmly, we trust you will join our community wholeheartedly with energy and involvement. Come to pray, come to see and understand, come to serve.
Pray for us too, that our worship here always leads us to commitment to God and the work of God’s Kingdom.
Contact Us We welcome your questions, feedback, and suggestions. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We'll do our best to respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.
Sacraments The liturgical life of the Catholic Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments
Confirmation
Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts.
First Holy Communion
The Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins.
Reconciliation
The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration.
Marriage
What we commonly refer to as marriage - is a ritual union between a man and a woman who freely vow to love and uphold each other in a promise with God for the rest of their lives.
Annointing of the Sick
Formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.
